Is Natural Radiation Protection Effected by FTC Censorship?

Concern about the effects of the recent nuclear plant disaster in Japan has been on just about everyone’s mind over the last few weeks. So far, it looks like we’re safe here on the U.S. mainland, but what many people do not know is that radiation exposure is a big threat right here in the U.S., regardless of what happens in other countries. The threat comes from our own medical profession, and it’s potentially even worse than Hiroshima. In fact, most of us would benefit from natural supplements that help reduce the effects of and eliminate radiation from the body. With any luck, this is one claim that won’t be the subject of FTC censorship. Continue reading “Is Natural Radiation Protection Effected by FTC Censorship?”

FDA and FTC Censorship Fails to Prop Up Collapsing Pharmaceutical Industry

Despite FDA attempts to prohibit the use of dietary supplements for the treatment and prevention of disease and FTC censorship of health information regarding the successes attained with dietary supplements, the pharmaceutical industry is set to lose $50 billion in the coming year alone. There are several reasons behind this loss, including the fact that the blush is off the Big Pharma rose for consumers: they want something better. FTC Censorship Squelches Traditional Disease Prevention and Treatment

I was watching a webinar last week that featured two M.D.s who specialize in alternative and complementary medicine. Both are renowned for their alternative cancer treatments. One doctor commented that they are considered extremists because of their methods. With diet, natural supplements, and reduction of exposure to toxins at the heart of their treatment recommendations, it’s difficult to imagine something more traditional. Will FTC censorship and the FDA put an end to traditional prevention and treatment of disease?

  • Food grown organically – without pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers and other poisons
  • Nutritional supplementation and herbs from natural sources – not the chemical counterparts made in labs, unnatural to the human body and impossible to metabolize
  • Clean water, free of the chemical waste polluting our water supply and the toxic chemicals used to ‘make it safe’
  • Animals raised in a natural habitat on their natural foods, not in a cage little bigger than they are or cramped tight with thousands of other animals being fed food that doesn’t provide the nourishment they need and drugs that make them toxic to humans
  • Clean air – especially indoors, which can be 10 times more polluted than outdoor air, and is relatively easy to control

That doesn’t sound extremist to me. It’s how we live naturally – before Greed’s attempt to improve on Mother Nature.

Okay, I admit it’s not all Greed. Some progress has been very well intended and, in fact, makes our lives better.

But things have been taken too far: It’s now well known to anyone who cares to look at the data that our bodies are being poisoned by the chemicals in the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe. In many cases, Greed is definitely the culprit. Why else would a company make it their business to manufacture and then (successfully) convince people that a box of nutrient-stripped, chemical-laden powder, on supermarket shelves in full view of fresh fruits and vegetables, should actually be considered food. Come on!

Now that’s extremist!!

Our bodies slave trying to eliminate this junk, the toxins we eat, drink and breathe, but, eventually, the burden becomes too much, the body can no longer get rid of them, and they start damaging our DNA, disrupting our hormones, inflaming our tissues, and turning our genes on or off – altering our basic make-up and making us sick.

In fact, many experts believe that describes the exact process causing the alarming incidence of degenerative disease.

Let’s have a look at cancer as an example.

The President’s Cancer Panel – a group that reports directly to the President, formed by an act of Congress in 1971 to monitor the multi-billion-dollar National Cancer Program – meets every year to analyze and evaluate the current cancer situation.

Here is what the Panel said to the President in the cover letter that accompanied its latest report:

“The true burden of environmentally induced cancers has been grossly underestimated. The grievous harm from this group of carcinogens has not been addressed adequately by the National Cancer Program. The American people – even before they are born – are bombarded continually with myriad combinations of these dangerous exposures.”

The panel went on to advise President Obama

“to use the power of your office to remove the carcinogens and other toxins from our food, water, and air that needlessly increase health care costs, cripple our nation’s productivity, and devastate American lives.”

That wasn’t written by ‘extremists’: The panel members are Dr. LaSalle D. Lefall, Jr., a professor of surgery at Howard University and Margaret Kripke, a professor at University of Texas’ M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. And in addition to other research for their report, they interviewed 50 medical experts. The establishment.

Here’s what the Panel came up with to help you be proactive in preventing cancer, things you can do right now:

  • Filter tapwater.
  • Store and carry water in stainless steel, glass or BPA- and phthalates-free containers to reduce exposure to endrocrine-disrupting and other chemicals that may leach into water from plastics.
  • Microwave food and beverages in ceramic or glass containers.
  • Decrease exposure to pesticides by choosing, to the extent possible, food grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers and washing conventionally grown produce to remove residues.
  • Minimize exposure to antibiotics, growth hormones, and toxic run-off from livestock feed lots by eating free-range meat without these medications if possible.
  • Avoid or minimize consumption of processed, charred, and well-done meats to reduce exposure to carcinogenic amines and polyaromatic hydrocarbons.
  • Consult information sources like the Household Products Database to help make informed decisions about the products we use.
  • Choose products made with non-toxic substances or environmentally safe chemicals.
  • Properly dispose of pharmaceuticals, household chemicals, paints and other materials to minimize drinking water and soil contamination.
  • Reduce the use of, or stop altogether, landscaping pesticides and fertilizers to prevent these chemicals from contaminating drinking water supplies.
  • Turn off lights and electrical devices when not in use to reduce exposure to petroleum combustion by-products by reducing the need for electricity, which is usually produced with the use of fossil fuels.
  • Drive a fuel-efficient car, ride a bike, walk, or take public transport to reduce toxic auto exhaust in the air you, and others, breathe.
  • Reduce or eliminate exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke.

As a special note about children, the President’s Cancer Panel said:

“It is vitally important to recognize that children are far more susceptible to damage from environmental carcinogens and endocrine-disrupting compounds than adults. To the extent possible, parents and child care providers should choose foods, house and garden products, play spaces, toys, medicines, and medical tests that will minimize children’s’ exposure to toxics. Ideally, both mothers and fathers should avoid exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals and known or suspected-carcinogens prior to a child’s conception and throughout pregnancy and early life, when risk of damage is greatest.”

Has anyone paid attention to these recommendations? Not really.

  • The update of the Toxic Substances Control Act was shot down in Congress just a couple of months ago. Nothing’s changed with that law since it was enacted in 1976, despite the fact that of the more than 80,000 new chemicals now being used, many of them every day by just about everyone, only 200 have been safety tested and only 4 have been the subject of regulation. Getting regulations passed on chemicals is so difficult they haven’t even managed to ban asbestos!
  • The FDA is cracking down on small and organic farmers while putting a Monsanto man in charge of food safety. ROFL was invented for that one.
  • FTC censorship is endeavoring to stop anyone from saying that anything that isn’t a drug or approved by the FDA can do anything for your health. In the meantime, the process of getting FDA approval is so expensive that only the richest industries in the world like Big Pharma, which has had a hand in the corruption of the FDA anyway, can afford it.

So, for those of you who want to live more naturally and safely and possibly avoid cancer – and remember, the President’s Cancer Panel said that first – take the steps outlined by the President’s Cancer Panel regarding chemicals and, to create an even bigger affect and maybe even put an end to all this, follow the President’s Cancer Panel’s final recommendation:

“Self-Advocacy:

“Each person can become an active voice in his or her community. To a greater extent than many realize, individuals have the power to affect public policy by letting policymakers know that they strongly support environmental cancer research and measures that will reduce or remove from the environment toxics that are known or suspected carcinogens or endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Individuals also can influence industry by selecting non-toxic products and, where these do not exist, communicating with manufacturers and trade organizations about their desire for safer products.”

Go ahead. Be extreme. Eat some organic broccoli, roast some grass-fed beef or a chicken that lived on the range, get fresh milk from your neighbor, take some vitamins, minerals and herbs to help lower your blood sugar or cholesterol, reduce your risk of heart disease, eliminate your menstrual cramps, shrink your prostate, lose weight or prevent cancer. Then get really brave and tell someone you feel better and no longer have the same health problems. Wow – you have just joined the ranks of hardened criminals. How does it feel?

Will FTC Censorship Put More Drugs Into Our Water Supply?

One of the serious drawbacks of FTC censorship of natural products is the possibility that people will take more drugs. In fact, I would venture a guess that Big Pharma is banking on that – literally.

Supplements and alternative medicine in general tend to treat the problem; drugs tend to either mask the symptoms or treat the problem by controlling it rather than healing it, with a substance that could, and often does, harm the people who take them.

But harm to those individuals is not the only problem. In fact, the drugs that Person A takes, might often wind up in Person B’s body.

How does this happen?

bottle & ocean

One of the main channels is our water supply. The United States Geological Survey has done numerous studies on water throughout the country and found that 80% of the areas tested were positive for trace amounts of pharmaceuticals.

Not only does that water often become our drinking water, it also is home to fish that end up on our dinner table.

There is some question about whether the amount of drugs in the water can actually have a negative effect on us. Granted, the trace amounts of the drugs are small and you would think they wouldn’t do too much damage. But when you consider that these drugs, and there are many different drugs in the water, are in every glass of water we drink and in the water used to boil every pot of potatoes, it really adds up. And, it’s a continual barrage – day after day, week after week, year after year.

More studies are needed to see what damage these drugs are actually doing. Is the water safe? Who knows?

What we do know is that fish are being affected. For example, the U.S. Geological Survey found “intersex fish” in the Potomac River and its tributaries. These fish were male, but carrying eggs. (Who’s having fish for dinner?)

It stands to reason that the reproductive system would be damaged: One of the major drug residues found by U.S. Geological surveys of 139 streams across America were hormones. The others were painkillers, blood pressure medications and antibiotics.

Many people choose to address their hormonal imbalances, pain, high blood pressure and infections naturally. And many are successful, while avoiding the side effects and other damage the drugs could do to the body.

Should anyone be censored from telling others what’s worked for them? Should anyone be prevented from finding out about those remedies?

That’s exactly what FTC censorship does. How can that be a good idea?

FTC Censorship Could Lead to Chronic Disease. Find Out How to Protect Yourself.

We recently did a survey to find out how many people are interested in receiving information on nutritional supplements and natural, non-drug treatments that help prevent or treat disease. No surprise – we got some very big numbers! Unfortunately, FTC censorship of supplements and non-drug treatments may prevent people from getting the information they need. FTC Censorship Delays Big Pharma’s Inevitable Failure to Dominate our Health

It doesn’t take more than an evening of watching television or reading a few magazines to see that Big Pharma is trying to promote the mindset that there’s a pill for everything. But despite billions of dollars spent on consumer advertising, Washington lobbying, and the wooing or bribing of doctors right from the beginning of med school, the industry has some serious problems with credibility that may just eventually bring it down. Could FTC Censorship of Supplements Increase Violent Behavior?

When we think about dietary supplements, we usually think of our physical health. But our mental and emotional health can also be helped with vitamins, minerals, herbs, and so on. The usual prescription for our emotional health is drugs.

Antidepressants, for example, are the most widely prescribed type of drugs in the U.S. However, there are also several natural remedies for depression which studies show are as, if not more, effective than drugs. They are also safer than prescribed drugs for the patients. In fact, FTC censorship of natural remedies for depression could even put the family members, friends and neighbors of those patients in danger.

How are antidepressant drugs dangerous to the family, friends and neighbors of the depressed person? According to a recent study, antidepressant drugs are among the top 10 legal drugs linked to violence toward others.

The new study, conducted by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices and published in the journal PloS One, reviewed the items in the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System and isolated 31 drugs that have the most reports of violent behavior towards others.

Researchers point out that, although the drugs may sometimes be given to those who already have a history of violent behavior, the propensity to violent behavior while taking these particular drugs stands out – even when history and other factors are considered. In other words, it really looks like the drugs themselves might be the problem.

Here is the countdown on the top ten offenders:

 10. Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), an antidepressant and anti-anxiety drug, is 7.9 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

 9. Venlafaxine (Effexor), also prescribed for depression and anxiety, is 8.3 times more likely than other drugs to be related to violent behavior.

 8. Fluvoxamine (Luvox), another antidepressant, is 8.4 times more likely than other medications to be linked with violence.

 7. Triazolam (Halcion), a benzodiazepine used to treat insomnia, is 8.7 times more likely to be linked with violence than other drugs.

 6. Atomoxetine (Strattera), used to treat the symptoms identified as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), is 9 times more likely to be linked with violence than the average medication.

 5. Mefoquine (Lariam), a treatment for malaria, is 9.5 times more likely to be linked with violence than other drugs.

 4. Amphetamines, various types, used to treat the symptoms identified with ADHD, are 9.6 times more likely to be linked to violence than other drugs.

 3. Paroxetine (Paxil), another antidepressant, is 10.3 times more likely to be linked with violence. And, by the way, is also linked with more severe withdrawal symptoms and a greater risk of birth defects than other similar medications.

 2. Fluoxetine (Prozac), the antidepressant everyone’s heard of, is 10.9 times more likely to be linked with violence than other drugs.

 1. Varenicline (Chantix), the anti-smoking drug, is 18 times more likely to be linked with violence.

 How’s that for depressing?

So, what are the natural remedies that could help with depression so we can avoid this violent behavior? According to the Mayo Clinic, a few of the common herbal remedies and other supplements you might try include the following:

“St. John’s wort. Known scientifically as Hypericum perforatum, this is an herb that’s been used for centuries to treat a variety of ills, including depression. It’s not approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat depression in the United States. Rather, it’s classified as a dietary supplement. However, it’s a popular depression treatment in Europe. It may be helpful if you have mild or moderate depression.

“SAMe. Pronounced “sammy,” this is a synthetic form of a chemical that occurs naturally in the body. The name is short for S-adenosylmethionine. It’s not approved by the FDA to treat depression in the United States. Rather, it’s classified as a dietary supplement. However, it’s used in Europe as a prescription drug to treat depression.

“Omega-3 fatty acids. Eating a diet rich in omega-3s or taking omega-3 supplements may help ease depression and also appears to have a number of other health benefits. These healthy fats are found in cold-water fish, flaxseed, flax oil, walnuts and some other foods.”

The Mayo Clinic also mentions acupuncture, yoga and massage therapy as other options used to treat depression.

Studies have also shown exercise to be effective. In fact, more effective than antidepressants.

It’s not uncommon for depression to stem from physical conditions like nutritional deficiencies and imbalances, hormonal problems, allergies and so on. Strangely enough, antidepressant-deficiency isn’t among them.

Check with your health practitioner to get tested and find out if one of those physical conditions applies to you. Chances are your regular family doctor won’t be trained in how to do that kind of testing – and if he or she does, count yourself very lucky – so it might be best to find an alternative, integrative or functional medicine practitioner to dig in and find out what’s doing on.

When you get your recommended program, and if the FDA or FTC censorship hasn’t already put the manufacturers of these natural remedies out of business, you can follow your health practitioner’s advice and get the supplements you need. You may even get better, without side effects, and without giving your neighbor a black eye!

FDA and FTC Censorship Does Not Focus on Preventing Real Health Risks

Years ago, a doctor told me to stay away from hospitals. He was an M.D. – you would think his attitude would be somewhat different. What was the reasoning behind that advice? Patient deaths, injury and other mishaps were rampant in the hospital setting. As studies were done and the problems in hospitals were exposed, action was apparently taken to protect patients. However, according to recent studies, there has been very little improvement. Shouldn’t the focus of the FDA and FTC censorship be on protecting us from these dangers? Why Almost Everything You Hear About Medicine Is Wrong

(Newsweek) (Page 1 of 2)

If you follow the news about health research, you risk whiplash. First garlic lowers bad cholesterol, then—after more study—it doesn’t. Hormone replacement reduces the risk of heart disease in postmenopausal women, until a huge study finds that it doesn’t (and that it raises the risk of breast cancer to boot)….
